Since the announcement of the concert months ago, I knew this concert will burn a hole in my pocket, knowing that I’ll pay for two and will also have to splurge on food, drinks, travel and other “concert” expenses. However, given a £65 fine to watch a full blown KPop Concert, I realized it was all worth it (online booking fee, not included).

At around half past two on December 5, we find ourselves situated in one of the most cruel queues in my existence, which the cold making it just as worse. I have no other problems with queueing before, but knowing the popularity of the genre in the country, I knew it has to start early one way or the other.

Anyway, off to the concert…

4minute was the first act to perform and if you want the full set list, I will just lazily ask you to go to the Koreaboo recap I wrote. With no other “Korean Pop” concert experience, I find 4minute such charmers on stage, with good vocals from some members pitching in from time to time. The group also managed to pull off special performances from Gayoon&Jiyoon and Hyuna. If I may say, all of them looked equally hot onstage and being on the side of the audience where fanboys lurk, we knew they were effective.

G.NA was the second act to come out and showcased a number of good performances. Talking about vocals, I seem pretty unimpressed during the first half of her set, simply because I found her vocals, lazy. Also to include the fact that she messed up her Rihanna cover. Could it from the technical difficulties or just plain stage mishap, I don’t know. But to give the lass a good credit, G.NA eventually managed to pull off a good act by the second half, something that I was expecting from the start.

Last but not the last was BEAST. I was never a big fan of the group before, despite knowing their title tracks and all, but I became a convert after the concert. They were definitely the highlight of the night. And as I’ve said before, music shows performances did not this group justice, they were better live. All six of them consistently charmed the stage with their gimmicks, looks, vocals and choreographers. Maybe except for Kikwang who totally seemed lost/jetlagged that night. Or maybe because my sister and I can stop giggling over Doojoon, as he was flirting with every ladylove that evening, that we somehow got distracted.

All in all, it was good concert and it was a fantastic experience to have come across this live. I may have a number of Kpop encounters on my list now, but this was definitely my first Kpop concert experience and I am looking forward for MORE. Bring it on, London!

Simply because, I know the answer deep down in myself. I know, the fact, that I have been silently bullied and allowed it, every single day of my existence. I also do know that I can’t stand up for myself anymore, because I feel like my voice would just add more chaos than answers. For one, I do shut myself up sometimes simply because I know how it feels to be stabbed by those words. Then again, these people that I’m protecting, doesn’t really realize that their words can be too much on my part sometimes.

It has been my fault to have allowed it, but finding the right balance to correct it, has been a struggle. I realized that silencing myself absolutely doesn’t bring any trouble, but it still doesn’t give me answers. So I’m starting to take the hurt all over again, to correct things that I should’ve done ages ago. I am so over repenting. I will stand up again.

If there’s one thing that ABSCBN is good at, is the fact that they are able to relay current events to their drama concepts. When trouble ensued with the Armed Forced in the news, lo and behold, the station had a top rating drama in the form of “Minsan Lang Kitang Iibigin”. When the government held debates on sex education, they revamped “Katorse” and released “Angelito : Ang Batang Ama”.

Althought some parents are already negating the drama due to its possible bad influence to the kids, I think that the show is just portraying a small portiono of a teenager’s reality aka “growing up”. It tackles on the aspects of peers and its pressure, crushes and relationships and most importantly, sex. The drama alone is based on the struggles of a young couple who is suddenly faced with a reality of having a child.

For the first two weeks, the drama seem to have gone well in terms of plot, although you have to insert the cliches and typical story lines. But what made me like this drama more, compared to the station’s previous attempt was the fact that it was least sexified. More importantly, the drama gives off that youthful vibe, that makes you want to go back to your old high school memories filled with crushes, heartbreaks and friendships. Oh, the drama.

Thumbs up to the rest of the gang, the rest of the actors and actresses (both new and veteran) for the good work. So far, I’m enjoying it.

Jason Wu + Melissa Shoes Ultragirl Putty

Long story short, I found the new pair of flats that I want to splurge on come Spring 2012. It’s Jason Wu’s collaboration with shoe brand Melissa. & the moment I saw the photo while reading a magazine awhile ago, I thought that I should have it, by hook or by crook. The flats roughly costs £85-90 and for a high end label, I say the cost is not that bad. My feet can’t wait to have you!

I may have Twitter, Facebook and all other social networking accounts, but to my very personal and corny college days, I had Multiply. And up until now, I couldn’t dare leave that website because it keeps memory of my previous posts, the updates, college frustrations, outcries and interesting relationships. So I guess I have to elbow myself to start documenting the new chapter of my life, here, in WordPress, again. A promise I have broken and rewritten for the past few months.

My mentions were trolling, bloghits for this blog and OhKpop were skyrocketing and I found myself spazzing to every update about them. All because of one Korean boyband. The only Korean boyband that I followed with much loyalty and love. I may not have been the type to purchase all of their merchandises, nor spam various fansites and forums, but everything that has happened for the past few days was just beyond amazing. So amazing I might go crazy.

Although I am sad to see them leave, after having an emotional weekend with them, I am more than happy that my babies started on a clean and banging start. As a fan, nothing and no one can take this moment away from us and I am happy to have been a part of it, no matter how small of a voice I can be.

One, I wasn’t in the right mind to realize that they left South Korea (i.e. airport photos) because I barely woke up. Two, I didn’t even know if it was legit. Trusting a good friend via Twitter, my sister and I decided to risk it. And by four in the afternoon, we met up with some UK VIP friends and waited for Big Bang. And boy was it worth the risk~

On the 3rd of November, Big Bang flew to London, United Kingdom, after being nominated for this year’s MTV EMA in Belfast. According to our friend, the group and their team were set to arrive at half past four, via Korean Air.

They didn’t come out until six in the evening, with their managers and team in tow.

TOP was first to come out, followed by Gdragon, Daesung and Taeyang behind him. The moment they went past through the barriers, we immediately scrambled to get a good glimpse of them. Despite being their usual selves, I still commend them for being able to smile a bit, nod and continued walking. As I’ve said from my previous tweets, it was everything I expected from them, so I wasn’t really disappointed.

All four along with their team went to the carpark, in which some fans followed suit as well. I was trailing behind when I saw Taeyang quietly walking behind, talking to Liz from UKBB. When I got my chance, I just told him to have fun in the EMAs, pat his shoulder and he nodded, smiled and followed the manager in charge of him.

It wasn’t long when we realized that Seungri wasn’t around, considering that all of them left the South Korea together. I followed the crowd towards the parked van to look for my sister and the rest of the friends we were with. Managers were scrambling to close the doors as the fans continued to be their normal selves, loud but harmless.

A minute or so, my sister and I, along with our friends, were finally reunited and that’s when we realized that Seungri continues to be missing. Lo and behold, Seungri was walking past with the another manager, going through the deafening screams of his fans.

We gladly took a few more minutes to calm ourselves down, sharing our own photos.videos before we realized that it was time to go home as well. We were also trying to figure out if they will head on to their journey to Belfast, or stay the night in London and take the next flight tomorrow.

Despite the draining battery and hungry tummy, my sister and I went home happy. It was a rare chance to see Big Bang, being an international fan and being one of their biggest fans, it was definitely one of the happiest days of my life. I don’t hold any regrets not being able to go to SHINee’s opening gala in Leicester Square, as this was a better turnout. There’s definitely someone who listens up there, and I’m happy.

IMPRESSIONS:

• There were like 30-50 people around waiting for Big Bang, all clustered in groups.
• Airport’s public announcement system confused the us all for a second, when they said that Big Bang was in immigration. Some were scrambling on how to get in, then realizing that there’s no way in but the arrivals.
• TOP and Gdragon were their usual gloomy selves, just nodding and looking around. Daesung followed suit, slightly smiling and just looked down.
• Taeyang, on the other hand, was wayyyyyyy shorter than I expected and just bounced along at the back. I think he was the friendliest.
• My sister managed to touch his arm, I don’t know why and then told me that it wasn’t muscle-y but squishy.
• Seungri was the last to come out, following the vibe TOP and Gdragon was doing.
• GDragon, TOP, Taeyang and Daesung along with a manager took the same car, leaving Seungri on another one.
• Fans sang TOP a birthday song in the car park, chanted “Daesung Hwaiting” and a pleaded for a YG Concert.

Just so you know, I’m not the type to stalk my favourite celebs, as I would rather meet them in official events. However, having the disadvantages as an international fan, I would go out of my normal ways just to catch a glimpse of Big Bang. Videos and photos were just added bonuses, seeing them in the flesh will be a memory I will forever keep.

My Beautiful Mess: A bunch of clippings to be put on my little journal

And for the first time since I permanently moved with my family, on a new flat, the room that I share with my sister, finally feels like one. Back at home, I have the average teenage girl type of room. Now, everything is just visually minimally – with my mess creeping underneath.

Quoting my sister when I assembled my bedside, “Your side of the room talks a lot about your personality”. She pointed out how I had books, CDs, notebooks, pens, make-up and religious items while she only had her camera and the “Death Note” notebook that I gave her as a present.

Basically, the “cleaning” only started when my mum gifted me with a new wardrobe. A much needed one. Along the way, I discovered a lot of trash, some forgotten items and a few more treasures.

The real mess

Our little frog prince. The only surviving stuffed toy in the household. The big toy skunk we own was given a final verdict to be donated to charity. My mum doesn’t like anything “useless” that occupies space, as much I want to relent – I don’t have a choice. I just hope a new owner will take care of it well.
